The long, sleek, curved body of Lurelle Guild’s design for the Electrolux Model XXX vacuum cleaner resembled the new all-aluminum, Streamlined trains of the 1930s. With this design, Guild brought the Streamlined aesthetic and its associations with speed and efficiency into the domestic environment. The vacuum cleaner looks like it could propel itself around the house.
