In
1898, Sir Alfred Gilbert used aluminum for the armor on the statue of St.
George on the tomb of Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence in St. George’s
Chapel in Windsor Castle. The following year, Gilbert produced two
additional statues of St. George, the English patron saint; both cast
entirely in aluminum.
