From its first appearance in the 19th century, when rarity made it as prized as gold, aluminum has inspired creativity and sparked innovation in the design of furniture, jewelry, architecture, fashion, and consumer and industrial products. Aluminum by Design: Jewelry to Jets includes precious objects produced in the 1850s, the model of a 1902 architectural facade, fabrics, coffeepots, sports equipment, automobiles, and more. Together these objects tell the story of a multifaceted metal that has transformed daily life for more than 150 years.
