(Israeli, b. 1951) Ron Arad, an architect and professor of industrial and furniture design at the Royal College of Art in London, began experimenting with aluminum in the mid-1980s. Like many contemporary designers, he often appropriates aluminum technologies and materials developed for other industries, particularly aerospace.
