(French, 1896-1987)
Jacques Le Chevallier, a stained-glass artist, experimented briefly with lighting design in the late 1920s. By that date aluminum was becoming more common in domestic lighting. While not as reflective as silver, aluminum was much less costly and thus more practical for everyday use. Le Chevallier stretched the limits of the materials and mechanics of lighting. He often accented his aluminum lamps with other new materials such as Bakelite.
