(American, 1904-1976) Russel Wright preferred the look of pewter and chrome-plated steel, but used aluminum because it was easier to work and was readily available. By combining the coolness of aluminum with the warmth of other materials such as wood, cork, and rattan, Wright’s serving pieces were distinctively different from the all-aluminum kitchen pots and pans that had become so popular in the 1920s. He uncovered a potentially vast market for aluminum. |
