This tour explores why certain noted designers, from the late 19th century on, have chosen to use aluminum. Designers are always making choices about materials. For both limited edition pieces as well as mass-market designs, the choice is often a carefully considered decision based on factors that are constantly changing and evolving over time. Cost, availability, aesthetics, ease of manufacture, appropriateness, public perception, and the characteristics inherent to the material are all part of the decision. Noted designers have and continue to use aluminum in furniture, lighting, clothing, architecture, and many other objects.
