With the development of stronger alloys and aeronautics research during WWI, aluminum became the metal of choice for aircraft. Aluminum, used in engines, wings, and bodies helped reduce weight and cost, while increasing speed and passenger limits. Today aluminum alloys continue to be developed to maintain aluminum’s preeminence in the aerospace industry.
