Aluminum chairs have been popular since the 1920s. Ideal for large commissions, such as restaurants, offices, and even ocean liners, the metal chairs are rugged, light weight, inexpensive, fire-resistant, and convey a modernist aesthetic. Aluminum chairs were not limited to mass production markets, but from the 1930s, also appeared in domestic interiors. Today, aluminum is still a popular choice for mass production chairs as well as limited editions.
