Since the late 19th century aluminum has played a major role in automobile design. In 1907 the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, with its all aluminum body, secured the metal’s place among designers for luxury cars. Today aluminum producers and car manufacturers continue to collaborate to develop new alloys, designs, and technologies that incorporate aluminum. Its light weight and strong alloys minimize fuel consumption and emissions, important in today’s environmentally-conscious world.
