Mass production of aluminum products and the metal’s inherent malleability made spinning an ideal process to create large circular forms. Spinning involves using sheet aluminum cut to a disk shape. The metal revolves on a lathe and is pushed either by hand or hydraulics around a wooden form at controlled speeds. A series of wooden forms may be used to produce the desired shape.
