The oxidation of steel is an all too familiar occurrence, resulting in flaking layers of rust and corrosion. Aluminum differs from steel by oxidizing immediately in air, developing a thin film that seals the surface from further chemical or environmental reactions. With its natural "skin" and additional corrosive-resistant alloys, aluminum is weather resistant and suitable for outdoor use.
