The new producers of aluminum all faced the same problem: what to do with their product. They set out to find, develop, and maintain markets for the metal. At this early stage, many unusual applications were tried, such as tips for clogs and a dance floor for clog dancing. Based on its unique combination of properties, aluminum established a foothold in three areas that would eventually become the largest: construction, packaging, and transportation.
