Recent Acquisitions in Contemporary Art

In keeping with Andrew Carnegie’s commitment to collecting the work of the “Old Masters of tomorrow,” Carnegie Museum of Art acquires recent productions of the most innovative artists working today.

The contemporary art department also seeks to augment its collection of art produced since 1945 in order to present a more expansive and diverse account of previous decades. The works assembled here reflect both of these facets of the department’s mission, as well as our commitment to collecting engaging artworks across a broad range of media and styles, including installation and film and video.
