Carnegie Museum of Art hires assistant curator of contemporary art

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania...Carnegie Museum of Art has hired Heather Pesanti as assistant curator in the Contemporary Art Department. Pesanti assists Carnegie Museum of Art Curator of Contemporary Art Douglas Fogle with the organization of the 2008 Carnegie International, North America’s preeminent survey exhibition of international contemporary art. She will also work with Fogle to develop the contemporary collection and organize exhibitions in the museum’s Forum Gallery.
“We are excited to have someone with Heather’s background on board in the contemporary art department,” says Fogle. “She has worked with some of the best curators in the business and has the energy and intellectual curiosity that are so important to the organization of the International.”
Prior to working at Carnegie Museum of Art, Heather Pesanti was the Marjorie Susman Curatorial Fellow at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Illinois, where she curated the June 2005 installment and co-curated the May 2005 installment of the museum’s emerging artist series 12x12: New Artists/New Work. Pesanti has a Masters in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, specializing in Modern/Contemporary art. She also has a Master of Studies in Ethnology and Museum Ethnography from the University of Oxford, Oxford, England.
