Whether you work with the public or behind the scenes, volunteering offers the opportunity to share an interest, gain work experience, support the community, explore one’s potential, and meet new friends.

Volunteers may assist with children’s art activities and classes, do research and data entry for curators, and help with various projects and programs.

Want to Be a Volunteer Docent?

The Docent Program is an important part of Carnegie Museum of Art’s Education Department. Our mission is to engage and inspire visitors of all ages with works of art in the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Becoming a docent involves a prerequisite course, training, and a review process by Education Department staff. Learn more about becoming a docent.
